What do I need to do to publish my articles and tutorials?

All members of our website are considered to be authors. We believe everyone has something they know that will help someone else. Once you have created an account, you are free to write as many articles as you wish -- as long as you are not attempting to plagiarize the work of another. Our editors and publishers will then review your article to make sure it follows our editing guidelines and meets our high quality standards. Once it has been approved, your content will be publicly available, and you will begin to earn advertising revenue (as long as you have already set that up).

How do I earn money for publishing my content?

We have a revenue sharing system that splits ad impressions with you. In order to participate, all you need is an active Google AdSense account and an existing ad (728w x 90h format). Once you have your account, and have created the appropriate advertisement, login to your HowtoCode account and drop in your Google AdSense publisher ID and the advertisement slot ID into the "My Revenue Sharing" section. You can find both the publisher ID and the slot ID by looking at the "copy & paste code" for the specific 728x90 ad in your AdSense account. It doesn't get any harder than that!

What do you do about click-fraud?

We do not encourage anyone to click on any advertisement that they are not HONESTLY interested in. Since we do not show when an article ad impression belongs to the author or to the house, we hope people do not take it upon themselves to try to inflate their own click-through rate. Google doesn't like it, and we don't like it. While viewing your own article, we will never show an ad you own (while you are logged in), and we also provide the option to block ads for an IP address to reduce any... temptations... that you might have.

When does my revenue sharing income expire for an article?

It doesn't. You will earn income for your content for as long as we're around! So even if you have your articles elsewhere, you can't lose by posting them on HowtoCode. The bigger and more popular our community becomes, the more money you will earn from the high quality content will write.

What do you do to protect from the likes of spammers?

First of all, content must be approved before it will be shown on our site. If we find that someone abuses their privileges as an author, or attempts to cheat the system, then their account will be disabled, and all offending articles will be removed. Articles that clearly show symptoms of abuse should be reported immediately, so action can be taken.
